M. Inst. C.E.,
Born - January 23rd 1871
Died - May 5th 1948
Married Gertrude (Pickering)
Had no children.
Followed his father as Consulting Engineer, became Chairman of
Hathernware Ltd. in 1938 following the death of George Albert. His work
mainly consisted of alterations or extensions to schemes his father had
designed and the practice gradually declined.
As however he inherited and lived in his fathers house and never threw
anything away, most of my information about the family comes from papers I
found when clearing up after his widows death.
Walter's place in local history is based on the fact that he was a
considerable benefactor to Loughborough Grammar School whose main new
Assembly Hall was named the Hodson Hall in memory of him.
